¡§Chin-Huh Club¡¨ ¡§Tokyo Dorm¡¨ ¡§Chun-Xien Dorm¡¨ ¡§HI-Taipei¡¨ From a student dormitory of two rooms (12 beds) to the youth hostel of 20 rooms (100 beds), Mr. Feng has transformed HI-Taipei in 6 years through the scheme of China Trust founder Mr. Gu and IYHF founder Richard Sherman.
In 1996, inspired by the young students during the national debate competition, Mr. Feng and Mr. King decided to organize ¡§Chin-Huh Club¡¨, which was leaded by Mr. Feng and supported by Mr. Gu on the purpose of providing dorm service to those who participated in the competition. Mr. Gu also granted a traditional painting of Chin-Huh Club, which is now hung on the front door of HI-Taipei to remember the assistance that he gave.

Due to the graduation of Chin-Huh Club members, Mr. Feng turned to the students who went to tutoring schools on Nan-Young St. and changed Chin-Huh Club to the name of Tokyo Dorm, which later changed to Chun-Xien Dorm when it was officially registered in 2003. Because of low housing rate during summer, he took the advice from YH main office in London and began youth hostel service using the original license and facilities. In the following year, HI-Taipei was recommended by IYHF Asia director Mr. Promvit to take London¡¦s examination. Not only did HI-Taipei pass the exam, but we also reached the international standard of having IBN booking system and became the first Hostelling International branch in Taiwan at the end of year. Moreover, in 2005 HI-Taipei combined the ISIC student card service with MRT card and made it known to the world through traveling websites and tour guides¡C |
